I’ve been doing what I never thought was possible (or advisable). After being too ashamed of my medication-induced weight gain to go back to wheelchair racing, a friend invited me to “run” with her as she trained for a half-marathon. We ran 11.5 miles together on the weekend (!!) and I was hooked.
I set out today to try a “run” on my own and really enjoyed it. But what was a BHN moment for me was this hill, picture attached. I live in a hilly area, and the hills had always made me reluctant to abandon my car in favour of public transit. But this evening, IĀ mounted a large hill, pushing near the edge of my capacity - and saw another, even bigger hill, rising up behind it. I stopped, assessed, took a picture, and decided that hill was for another day. My run would not be spoiled - I chose another route, and marked this hill for a future challenge.
