Today I met with my pal Matt, who (in addition to being a great friend) handles all my web design and development stuff. We talked about the new Jenni-centric site he’s going to build and make awesome, which is super exciting; I haven’t had a fresh site for my work in AGES!
One of the best things about our meeting was lunch. We closed our laptops, I turned off my bberry ringer, neither of us sent any tweets - we just ate a delicious meal (complete with fancy coffees and desserts) and talked, really listened to each other. Our conversation ran the gamut: clients, home brewing, taxes, sunglasses, caffeine, learning opportunities, friends, travel…we talked about a bazillion different things.
Taking some time to focus on a friend is always refreshing. You get to share ideas and advice, and even just listening to a story can be very enjoyable. It seems so rare that we do that now - we’re always multi-tasking, juggling a bunch of activities at once. So the chance to just sit and enjoy the company of someone I think is really awesome is, well, awesome. We were just there, at that moment, together, sharing an experience. I highly recommend it.
