Much of today was spent in the car, tooling around in the ‘burbs for a meeting with a client. Not really the way I want to spend my day (in the car, that is - the client stuff was cool) but I found some bright spots.
Once I got home, I hopped on the computer only to be overwhelmed with about 100 new emails and a ton of tweets and…well, you know what it’s like when you dare take a day off from the internets.
A shining light: my pal The Hitmaker has a song in the Indaba Music “Remixing Colbert and Lessig Into Music” contest. It’s totally danceable! So I took a few moments and listened to it, doing NOTHING ELSE. Just listening to a song. And then I listened to it again. And then I voted for it. (hint, wink, nudge) Sure, a couple times I wondered if I shouldn’t be checking email too, but you know what? Email can wait. Sometimes you just have to take a music break.
Whew! What a relief to close my eyes and just let the soothing tones of Stephen Colbert wash over me. I was with The Hitmaker, and Colbert. Here. Now. In my home office. Not multi-tasking. Just listening.
